What’s Included?
Each box contains:
-
15 × 750ml amber PET bottles
-
15 × silver screw-on bottle caps
The complete box provides approximately 11.25 litres of bottling capacity.
Suitable for Bottle Conditioning
These bottles are designed to withstand the pressure produced when properly bottle conditioning home brew beverages.
They are suitable for packaging:
-
Beer
-
Cider
-
Ginger beer
-
Mead
-
Other appropriately carbonated home brew beverages
Always use the correct quantity of priming sugar or carbonation drops for your recipe. Excessive priming sugar can produce unsafe pressure inside any bottle.
Why Use Amber Bottles?
Amber bottles reduce the amount of damaging light that reaches your beverage.
This is particularly important for beer because ultraviolet and visible light can react with hop compounds and produce an unpleasant light-struck or “skunky” aroma.
Bottled beer should still be stored upright in a cool, dark location for the best flavour and shelf life.
How Many Bottles Do I Need?
One box contains 15 × 750ml bottles and holds approximately 11.25 litres.
For a standard home brew batch, two boxes provide:
-
30 bottles
-
Approximately 22.5 litres of total capacity
-
30 matching screw caps
The exact number required will depend on your finished batch volume and how much beer remains behind with the fermentation sediment.
How to Use
Clean and sanitise each bottle and cap before filling.
Add the correct amount of priming sugar or carbonation drops, fill the bottle while leaving suitable headspace and securely tighten the screw cap.
Store the filled bottles upright at the recommended conditioning temperature. As carbonation develops, the bottles will become noticeably firmer.
Can These Bottles Be Reused?
Yes. PET beer bottles can be reused when they remain clean, undamaged and free from scratches or odours.
Rinse them immediately after use and clean them with a suitable brewery cleaner. Replace any bottle that becomes deeply scratched, cloudy, misshapen or damaged.
Replacement caps are available separately from Border Brewing Supplies.
Do I Need a Bottle Capper?
No. These PET bottles use screw-on plastic caps, so a crown-seal bottle capper is not required.
Tighten each cap securely by hand and check that it has sealed correctly before conditioning.
Can I Use Carbonation Drops?
Yes. Carbonation drops provide a convenient way to prime individual bottles.
Follow the carbonation-drop manufacturer’s dosage instructions for a 750ml bottle and consider the carbonation requirements of your particular beverage style.
