How Do You Apply Keg Lubricant?
Clean and dry the seal before applying a very thin, even film of lubricant with a clean finger or suitable applicator.
The surface should be lightly coated rather than packed with grease. Reassemble the component and remove any excess lubricant that is pushed out around the seal.
Why Lubricate Keg O-Rings?
Dry O-rings can twist, pinch or drag as keg parts are assembled. This can damage the seal and create slow beer or CO₂ leaks.
A light coating of food grade lubricant allows the O-ring to move into position more easily, helping it form a reliable seal while reducing unnecessary wear.
Lubricant can assist a serviceable O-ring, but it will not repair a seal that is cracked, flattened, stretched or otherwise damaged. Worn O-rings should be replaced.
Can It Be Used on Ball Lock Disconnects?
Yes. A tiny amount can be applied to compatible post O-rings and internal disconnect seals to help the disconnect attach smoothly and seal correctly.
Avoid overapplication, as excess lubricant can attract dirt and brewing residue.
Is It Suitable for Pressure Fermenters?
It can be used sparingly on compatible pressure-fermenter lid seals and O-rings, including many FermZilla, Snub Nose and stainless pressure-fermenter components.
Check the equipment manufacturer’s instructions before applying lubricant to a particular seal.
