Draw Clearer Beer from Above the Sediment
The Floating Dip Tube Kit allows you to transfer or dispense beer from near the surface of the liquid rather than drawing from the bottom of your fermenter or keg.
As the liquid level drops, the stainless steel float lowers with it and keeps the pickup close to the surface. This helps leave yeast, hops and other sediment behind at the bottom of the vessel.
The included weighted filter helps keep the pickup submerged while its stainless steel mesh reduces the chance of hop material and other solids entering the dip tube, liquid post or ball lock disconnect.

Why Use a Floating Dip Tube?
A conventional dip tube draws liquid from the bottom of the vessel, where yeast, hops and trub normally settle.
A floating dip tube draws from near the surface, where the beer is generally clearer. This can reduce sediment transfer when filling kegs, taking samples or dispensing directly from a pressure fermenter.
It is particularly useful when fermenting under pressure or performing closed transfers that minimise exposure to oxygen.

This kit is not designed for standard mini kegs without suitable modifications and compatible fittings.
How to Install
Attach one end of the silicone tube to the liquid pickup connection inside your pressure vessel.
Fit the stainless steel float and weighted filter to the other end of the tube. Trim the silicone tube so the filter can travel from the liquid surface to near the bottom of the vessel without excessive tubing bunching or becoming tangled.
Test the movement using clean water before filling the vessel with beer.
The exact tube length required will depend on the size and shape of your fermenter or keg.
How Does a Floating Dip Tube Work?
The stainless steel ball floats on the liquid while the weighted filter sits slightly below the surface.
As beer is transferred or dispensed, the float and filter move down with the liquid level. This keeps the pickup above most of the yeast and hop sediment collected at the bottom.
Does the Filter Remove All Sediment?
No. The 80-mesh filter is designed to reduce larger hop particles and other solids entering the dip tube.
Fine yeast and haze-forming particles may still pass through. Cold conditioning and allowing enough time for sediment to settle will produce the clearest result.
Can It Prevent Blocked Keg Posts?
The filter significantly reduces the likelihood of hops and larger solids reaching the liquid post, poppet or disconnect.
Large quantities of loose dry hops can still cover or clog the filter. Using a hop bag or hop tube is recommended when adding substantial dry-hop charges.
Can I Use It for Closed Transfers?
Yes. The kit is ideal for transferring beer from a pressure-rated fermenter through the liquid post and into a purged keg.
Closed transfers help reduce oxygen exposure and are particularly useful for hop-forward beers such as pale ales, XPAs, IPAs and hazy IPAs.
Always remain within the pressure rating of your fermenter and associated equipment.
Should I Cut the Silicone Tube?
Yes. The supplied 100cm tube is designed to be trimmed to suit different vessels.
Leave enough length for the filter to reach the bottom as the liquid level falls, but avoid excessive tubing that may coil, kink or trap the pickup against the vessel wall.
How Should It Be Cleaned?
Disassemble the float, tubing and filter after use.
Rinse away visible residue, soak the components in a suitable brewing cleaner and flush the silicone tube thoroughly. Remove the filter cap to clean both sides of the mesh.
Rinse well and sanitise before reinstalling. Do not store the silicone tubing for extended periods in concentrated acid sanitiser.
