Calcium Sulphate

Food Grade Gypsum

Commonly used in brewing to adjust water chemistry, particularly for beers like British-style ales and bitters. It adds calcium and sulfate ions to the brewing water, which can enhance hop bitterness and contribute to a drier, crisper flavour profile.

Additionally, gypsum can help lower the pH of the mash and improve the yeast's performance and the beer's clarity.

Calcium Sulphate is a mineral that has many uses, such as fertilizer and clay breaker for gardens, the main constituent in many forms of plaster, drywall and blackboard or sidewalk chalk.

Gypsum is added to enriched flour used to make breads and cereals. Baking powder, yeast foods, bread conditioners, canned vegetables and artificially sweetened jellies and preserves all contain gypsum
