How Brick Road Pilsner Blonde Works
Brick Road begins with selected brewing grains that are malted and blended to suit the intended beer style.
The malt is mashed with hop extract to create a hopped wort before being gently concentrated and canned. This provides the malt and bitterness required to produce a consistent beer without carrying out a full all-grain mash and boil.
The concentrated wort is mixed with water and your selected fermentable before yeast is added to complete fermentation.

-
Pour the contents into your sanitised fermenter.

-
Dissolve thoroughly with hot water.
-
Top up with cool water to the required batch volume.

Check that the wort is at a suitable pitching temperature.

Add the supplied yeast and seal the fermenter.
-
Ferment at a stable temperature within the yeast manufacturer’s recommended range.

Always follow the instructions printed on the can, as the quantity of fermentable and final volume may vary between the low-, mid- and full-strength recipes.
How Much Beer Does One Kit Make?
One Brick Road Pilsner Blonde kit makes approximately 23 litres of finished beer when prepared according to the instructions.
This is equivalent to around thirty 750ml bottles or approximately sixty 375ml bottles, allowing for normal fermentation and packaging losses.
What Does Brick Road Pilsner Blonde Taste Like?
It produces a pale and refreshing European-style beer with clean Pilsner malt, restrained bitterness and a crisp, dry finish.
The flavour is light and balanced, making it suitable for drinkers who enjoy uncomplicated, easy-drinking lagers and Pilsners.
Can It Be Brewed as a Low- or Mid-Strength Beer?
Yes. The kit includes different recipe options and can be prepared at approximately 2.6% to 4.8% ABV.
Follow the recipe printed on the can for the correct fermentable quantity and final volume for your preferred strength.
How Do I Make It Lower in Carbohydrates?
Add a suitable glucoamylase enzyme at the same time as the yeast.
The enzyme helps break down additional carbohydrates into fermentable sugars, allowing the yeast to produce a drier beer with fewer residual carbohydrates.
The resulting beer may also finish at a lower final gravity, so always confirm fermentation is complete before packaging.
What Fermentable Should I Add?
For the standard recipe, use 1kg of dextrose or brewing sugar.
For greater malt flavour, body and head retention, replace some or all of the sugar with Light Dried Malt Extract or a suitable liquid malt extract.
Follow the recipe on the can when brewing the lower-alcohol options.
What Yeast Is Included?
The kit includes a New World lager yeast selected to produce a clean fermentation profile.
This hybrid yeast can ferment at temperatures up to approximately 22°C, making it more practical for home brewers than many traditional cold-fermenting lager strains.
Can I Add Extra Hops?
Yes. Dry hop with approximately 10–30g of your preferred hop variety to add more aroma and flavour.
For traditional herbal, floral and spicy Pilsner character, consider:
-
Saaz
-
Hallertau Mittelfrüh
-
Tettnang
-
Hersbrucker
For a modern Australian or New Zealand interpretation, consider:
-
Motueka
-
Riwaka
-
Nelson Sauvin
-
Eclipse
Is This Kit Suitable for Beginners?
Yes. Brick Road Pilsner Blonde is suitable for new home brewers because the malt and bitterness have already been prepared in the concentrated wort.
You will still need suitable fermentation equipment, sanitiser, your chosen fermentable and bottles or a keg for packaging.
