How to Make Black Rock Apple Cider

  1. Clean and sanitise your fermenter and all brewing equipment.

  2. Remove the yeast sachet from beneath the lid and set it aside.

  3. Stand the can in hot water for approximately 10 minutes to soften the concentrate.

  4. Empty the concentrate into your sanitised fermenter.

  5. Add your chosen fermentable and dissolve thoroughly with hot water.

  6. Top up with cool water to a final volume of approximately 23 litres.

  7. Check that the cider is within the yeast’s recommended temperature range before adding the yeast.

  8. Ferment until the specific gravity remains stable.

  9. Bottle or keg using your normal carbonation method.

Always confirm fermentation has finished with stable hydrometer readings before bottling.

What Does Black Rock Apple Cider Taste Like?

Black Rock Apple Cider produces a sparkling, easy-drinking cider with fresh apple character, moderate sweetness and a clean, refreshing finish.

The finished sweetness, body and alcohol level can be adjusted through your choice of fermentable, yeast and any additional sweetening or flavouring used.

Can I Add Other Fruit Flavours?

Yes. Black Rock Apple Cider provides an excellent base for experimenting with additional fruit flavours.

Apple pairs particularly well with:

  • Raspberry

  • Strawberry

  • Cherry

  • Passionfruit

  • Peach

  • Pear

  • Mixed berries

Add flavouring gradually after fermentation and taste between additions until the desired balance is reached.

How Much Cider Does the Kit Make?

One 1.65kg Black Rock Apple Cider kit is designed to make approximately 23 litres of finished cider.

Is Brewing Yeast Included?

Yes. A dry brewing yeast sachet is supplied beneath the plastic lid.

You can use the included yeast or select a specialist cider yeast when you want greater control over fermentation character, dryness and aroma.

Can the Cider Be Bottled or Kegged?

Yes. The finished cider can be bottle conditioned or transferred into a keg and force carbonated.

When bottling, never add priming sugar until fermentation has completely finished and the specific gravity is stable.
