Easy Carbonation Drops for Bottled Beer
Carbonation Drops provide a fast, clean and convenient way to prime home-brewed beer, cider and ginger beer for natural carbonation in the bottle.
Simply place the required number of drops into each bottle before filling. The pre-measured sugar drops remove the need to weigh priming sugar and help provide consistent carbonation from bottle to bottle.
Each 200g packet contains approximately 60 or more carbonation drops.

330–375ml bottle: 1 carbonation drop
-
500ml bottle: approximately 1½ drops
-
650–750ml bottle: 2 carbonation drops
Always use clean, sanitised bottles that are suitable for holding carbonated beverages.
How to Use Carbonation Drops
-
Confirm fermentation has completely finished before bottling.
-
Clean and sanitise your bottles, caps and bottling equipment.
-
Add the correct number of carbonation drops to each bottle.
-
Fill each bottle with finished beer or cider, leaving suitable headspace.
-
Cap securely and store upright at fermentation temperature.
-
Allow approximately two weeks for carbonation to develop before chilling and testing.
Carbonation time can vary depending on the yeast, temperature and alcohol level of the finished beverage.
How Many Bottles Will One Packet Prime?
A packet containing approximately 60 drops can prime around:
-
60 × 330–375ml bottles using one drop per bottle
-
30 × 650–750ml bottles using two drops per bottle
The exact quantity may vary slightly between packets.
Can Carbonation Drops Be Used for Cider and Ginger Beer?
Yes. Carbonation Drops can be used to bottle-condition home-brewed beer, cider and alcoholic ginger beer, provided fermentation has completely finished and suitable pressure-rated bottles are used.
Important Bottling Information
Never bottle a beverage until fermentation is complete. Adding carbonation drops to an unfinished fermentation can create excessive pressure inside the bottle.
Do not exceed the recommended dosage, and always use bottles designed to withstand carbonation pressure.
